About Us

The soap-maker

Meet the Maker

Mum to one child and a pooch. Wife to a relocated Glaswegian.

Creating gorgeously gallus hand-made soaps, and now bath salts, for those who want something a bit different.

Gallus and Green was born out of desire to do something purely for me. Furloughed from my proper job, I enrolled in a craft soap making workshop, and the rest is history. With some spare time on my hands, these beautiful creations gave me some much needed me-time. Call me selfish? Call me gallus?

Cutting natural soap

Sustainable

All of our soaps are made with sustainability in mind. We’re all trying to do our own bit for the environment, more now than ever. Not one drop of palm oil goes into our soaps (you wouldn’t believe those soaps that still use it).

Nothing is tested on animals. There are no synthetic fragrances or colours. All the ingredients are completely natural. We try to be as zero waste as possible and the beautiful packaging can be recycled, reused or composted, if you can bear to part with it.

Stamping natural soap

Unique

Each type of soap uses the same recipe but every soap will be unique.

A base mix of light olive oil, rich shea butter and opulent castor oil, to which we add the finest essential oils and mineral pigments.

How the soap looks will differ between every single bar. Poured by hand, cut by hand, bevelled then stamped by hand. A huge amount of love goes into every bar we cut. Each soap then gets wrapped in the most gorgeous paper to create an extra special luxury finish.

Caring for your soap

It’s taken 6 weeks for your soap to be in perfect condition for you to use.

It’s really important you look after it. Soap’s best friend is air. If you can ensure your soap has the chance to dry out between uses, it will last so much longer. Use a soap dish or rest with lots of holes, so the bar doesn’t sit in water. The fewer the contact points between bar and dish the better.

And when your soap gets so small you can hardly keep it in your hand, use one of our linen bags. Just pop your soap into the bag and lather up. Use your bar right to the very end.

What does gallus mean? Cheeky, daring.

Why Gallus?

(ga-luss)

ADJECTIVE Scottish  bold; daring; reckless

Wrapping natural soap in 100% recyclable soap

Wrapping

All our soaps come beautifully wrapped in Cadeaux Paper.  All of their gift wrap is made using paper from sustainable sources and produced in the U.K. We use their 100gsm uncoated paper stock, so our wrap remains luxuriously thick and maintains its beautiful matt finish.

It's printed using vegetable oil-based inks rather than petroleum-based inks making it easier to recycle and minimise its environmental impact.

To find out more about their paper visit their website.

The bath salts come in a gorgeous dark amber glass jar which can be reused and refilled with our pouches, which are also compostable.
